San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York was arrested this weekend in Ohio, originally on the charge of engaging in prostitution, though a plea agreement amended it to misdemeanor charges.
York, who is originally from Youngstown, Ohio, was arrested Sunday morning at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine, according to local news station WKBN. The arrest was reportedly conducted by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as well as East Palestine police. By Monday morning, York had pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
According to Columbiana Court records, York was fined a total of $1,150 and sentenced to two days in Columbiana County Jail, concurrently, and received credit for one day already served. The 49ers owner had already filed a request to expunge the case from his record.
Via ESPN, York "allegedly responded to an undercover ad on a known prostitution website and 'arranged to have sexual activity with the female in exchange for $140.'" However, in court records, the arraignment document mentions that York will have his phone returned to him but forfeit an amount of $160 to the task force. It also mentions that he completed an online course as part of his deal.
The NFL is aware of York's case and said it "will be reviewed under the personal conduct policy." In a statement, the 49ers said, “As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time.”
For his court case, York used an address listed in Youngstown, although he primarily lives in California with his wife and children. Update (3:39 p.m. ET): The San Francisco Chronicle reports that York and his wife Danielle filed for divorce in May.
